Reader Cards

All candidates will receive a card (yellow for undergraduates, burgundy for graduates) and a pencil when seated. Your name will be read aloud from this card as you receive your diploma cover. Print your name, degree and address (for picture purposes) legibly. Please add the phonetic spelling unless pronunciation of your name is obvious.

Diploma March

After the doctoral and masters candidates are seated, baccalaureate degree candidates will be ushered forward in single file on both sides of the floor and hand the reader the yellow name card. After the reader reads the name, candidates will proceed forward to receive the diploma cover from the college dean. The candidates will turn and walk down the center aisle to shake hands with President Floyd and others and will return to their seating via the center aisle.

Photographs

Image Studios of Moscow will take a photo of each graduate receiving his/her hood and diploma cover, as well as a still shot with a WSU backdrop. A proof will be mailed to each graduate and photos may be viewed online here. Photos and DVDs may be purchased online, by mail at PO Box 9699, Moscow, ID, 83843, or by calling 208-882-5594. Only official photographers will be allowed on the floor with the graduates. Personal pictures of graduates in caps and gowns may be taken after the ceremony.

Disability Access

The processional is predominantly flat, but if you require accomodations please contact Teri Hansen, Commencement Coordinator at commencement@wsu.edu or call (509) 335-6674 for special assembly instructions.

General university commencement guests who have a disability or difficulty walking will find easier access if they enter the Coliseum through the north entrance off Orchard Drive, where you will find handicap parking and a drop off area. This will place the guest on the concourse level at sections 30-31-32. Handicap parking is available all around the coliseum. Limited seating is set aside in the first three rows of seating from the concourse level.  We ask those who utilize this area to limit the number of family and friends that sit with them to 3 individuals.  This will provide adequate seating for all who attend.  The coliseum does have wheelchair access seating available but will not have wheelchairs available.  Wheelchairs, walkers and other aids that will not be in use during the ceremony, should be labeled with personal identification and will be placed in a storage area near your seats.  This is required by law for emergency purposes. Ask a commencement usher for assistance.  Real time captioning will be used during all ceremonies.
